About
Our Story
Honoring a Legacy. Advancing Research. Empowering Youth.
In 2016, Kadeem Carson was diagnosed with Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumor (DSRCT)—a rare and aggressive form of soft tissue sarcoma. DSRCT primarily affects young men between the ages of 10 and 30, with only about 200 cases recorded since it was first identified in 1989. Despite undergoing chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation therapy, Kadeem faced a disease with no established standard of care and a low survival rate.
On March 21, 2022, Kadeem’s courageous battle came to an end, but his impact continues through the Kadeem Carson Foundation. We are committed to funding research for rare cancers like DSRCT and providing opportunities for youth in the New Britain, CT community—two causes that Kadeem deeply cared about.

Kadeem’s Legacy
Known affectionately as “Teddy”, Kadeem was born on January 9, 1989, in New Britain, CT. A natural leader, he excelled as a student-athlete at New Britain High School before playing football at Hudson Valley Community College.
His passion for his community was evident in his nine years of service with the New Britain Parks and Recreation Department, where he mentored countless children through after-school programs and summer camps. As a basketball coach, he led his team to two league championships, instilling values of teamwork and perseverance.
Beyond sports and mentorship, Kadeem was a creative entrepreneur, co-founding Rare Realities, a clothing brand that reflected his love for fashion and self-expression.
